Joan was born about 1236 in Stourton,Wiltshire,England.1   Joan's father was William III De Ferriers and her mother was Lady Margaret De Quincy.  Her paternal grandparents were Earl William II (4th) De Ferriers Of Derby and Lady Agnes De Keveliock Of Chartley; her maternal grandparents were Earl Roger De Quincy Of Winchester and Lady Helen (Elena) MacDonald Of Galloway. She had two brothers and a sister, named Robert, William and Agnes.  She was the oldest of the four children. She had four half-sisters named Isabel, Sybil, Matilda and Eleanor.  She died on March 19th, 1309.  She was buried in St. Augustine,Bristol,Wiltshire,England.1 


Joan's family with Thomas (The Wise) De Berkeley

‌Joan and The Wise were married in a religious ceremony in 1267.  They had a son and a daughter, named The Magnanimous and Margaret.
