His paternal grandparents were King Duncan I (The Gracious) Ceanmor Of Scotland and Lady Sybil De Northumberia; his maternal grandparents were Count Finn Arnesson Of Holland and Bergljot Halfdansdoittir Of Norway. He had two brothers named Malcolm and Donald. He was the oldest of the three children. He had nine half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Edward, Edmund, Ethelred, Edgar, Alexander I, The Saint, Paal, Bardolf, Erland II, Edith and Mary.
