Orville Leroy Patterson 
Orville Leroy was born on October 1st, 1922.1 Orville Leroy's father was Benjamin Harrison Patterson and his mother was Rosie Mitchell. His paternal grandparents were Howard Morton Patterson and Martha Hogan Davenport; his maternal grandparents were (James Arthur?) Mitchell and <Unknown>. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Jewel, Lloyd, Melvin Archie, James Arthur, Alta Molea and Vera Oleta. He died at the age of 58 on May 13th, 1981 in Dallas Texas, Veterans hospital.1 General Notes

Was in the Marines in WW2. Took part landing in Tarawa. I have a copy of
V-Mail dated December 2, 1942 addressed to Ben Patterson from Orville
showing him as part of USMC unit 265. San Francisco, Calif.
It reads:
Dear Folks, just to let you know that I am well and hope you are the same
and wishing you a Merry Christmas & a happy new year.

A year or so before he died, he came to live with Mother at the old house
on 600 South Miller in Decatur. He helped her tear it down. He got sick
shortly thereafter and I drove him to the veterans hospital in Dallas
where he later died. I was given to understand it was some kind of ear
infection that got into his brain???
