  Howard spent his childhood in Kentucky. At the age of nineteen, on 18
  December, 1887, he wed Martha Hogan Davenport, age 18 at her parents home
  in Casey County, the ceremony was performed by Charles Chilton. Martha
  was the daughter of Newton J. and Matilda "Tildie" Riggins Davenport of
  Casey County, Kentucky, and was born 22 October, 1869 in Casey County.
  Two of Howard and Martha's children were born there before they moved to
  Collin County, Texas and bought a farm.
  In 1906, Howard M. and Martha H. Davenport Patterson sold their farm in
  Collin County, Texas and moved to Petrolia, Clay County, Texas, where
  they rented a farm. Martha died in 1920 on 4 February, and is buried in
  Riverland Cemetery.
  
  Howard Morton Patterson is listed with his father in the 1880 Casey
  County Kentucky Census as a farm hand. He was listed as 11 at the time.
  Howard and Martha moved from Casey County Kentucky in 1890 when Walter
  was three months old to Collin County Texas. (I found Howard Morton
  Patterson in the 1900 Texas Census living in Collin County in Precinct 3,
  his occupation was listed as farmer.) They moved from Collin County to
  Clay County, Texas in 1906, when Mary was four months old. (I found
  Howard Morton Patterson listed in the Clay County Texas 1910 Census, his
  age is listed as 43, the following kids are listed in the household, Me.
  Patrick N., Chauncey D., Alta A., Merrel, Elzy, Marietta (sic), and
  Curtis. I also found Howard Morton Patterson in the Texas Clay County
  1920 census as of March 6th and 8th 1920. His age was listed as 52. Alta,
  Merrel, Elzy, Mary E., Curtis, and Suzie was listed as living at home.)

  The following text from Dale Patterson's tree:
  Benjamin was born in 1889 and William in 1890 in Casey County, Kentucky.
  In October of 1890 they moved to Collin County, Texas. He bought a farm
  there and Ethel was born in 1891, Myrtle in 1893, Patrick in 1895,
  Chauncy in 1897, Alta in 1899, Merrel in 1901, Elzy in 1904 and Mary in
  1906. He sold the farm in Collin County in 1906, and moved to the
  Riverland Community, Clay County, Texas. There Curtis was born in 1908
  and Susie in 1910. He rented a farm and was never to own land again in
  his lifetime. His wife Martha died in 1920. On March 4, 1921, he married
  Leanore Bell Cornutt Pierce, the widow of Anson Pierce. She was the
  daughter of David Lee Cornutt and Lou Ellar Wade. She was born in
  Prospect, Clay County, Texas on October 30, 1899. She had two sons from
  her first marriage, Herschel and Cecil Pierce. On December 19, 1921
  Leanore gave birth to his thirteenth and last child, Lorene.
  "Howard was an excellent farmer and hard worker but he drank and was
  cranky." He and Leanore could not get along and shortly after the birth
  of Lorene, they separated. She took her two sons and infant daughter to
  raise on her own. The girl was never to know her father and Leanore was
  never to re-marry. She died in Wichita Falls, Texas on May 20, 1975.
  Howard never re-married and lived in Petrolia until his death on January
  20, 1941.
