Patrick William Patterson 
Patrick William was born in April 1870 in Casey County, Kentucky.1 Patrick William's father was Patrick Luther Patterson and his mother was Gilla Ann Combest. His paternal grandparents were Benjamin Pierce Patterson and Martha Jane Peck; his maternal grandparents were Wiley Combest and Martha Hammond. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Howard Morton, Morton Luther, Mary E., Martha, Patsy J. and Florence. He was the third oldest of the seven children.1 General Notes

He was a blacksmith in Valdasta, Texas, and had a grist mill near the
residence of his uncle, John Wiley Combest. (This is according to J.
Warren Kever who remembers Patrick when he was about nine years old. John
Wiley was J. Warren Kever's grandfather.)
