William Wiley Combest 
William Wiley was born on April 9th, 1875 in La Center, Clark County, Washington Terri..1 William Wiley's father was Thomas Riley Combest and his mother was Louisa Ellen Bennett. His paternal grandparents were Wiley Combest and Martha Hammond; his maternal grandparents were Erastus Bennett and Harriet Tuckey. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Ira Arthur, Sidney John, Thomas Everett, Lloyd Francis, Joseph Alfred, Rena Ellen and Grace Amy. He was the oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 45 on December 16th, 1920 in Portland, Oregon.1 General Notes

"Samuel Combest and His Descendants" book
Called "Wiley", He was a veteran of the Spanish-American War of 1898, and
was stationed for a time in Jacksonville, Florida, serving with Teddy
Roosevelt's legendary "Rough Riders" in Cuba.
Upon returning to Oregon after his military service, Wiley became a
fisherman and made his living off the Oregon coast. During this time,
Wiley lived near Taft in Lincoln County, Oregon. He never married.
Wiley died in Portland, Oregon, on 16 December, 1920 and is buried in the
Spanish-American War Veterans' section of Riverview Cemetery, Portland,
Oregon.
