Roderick was born in 1789 in Moore County, NC. Roderick 's father was Kinnith Murchison and his mother was Catherine McIver. His paternal grandfather was William Murchison; his maternal grandparents were Roderick McIver and Nancy McKay. He had six brothers and five sisters, named Duncan , John, William, Kenneth B., Colin, Donald, Margaret, Isabel, Jennet, Mary and Nancy. He died at the age of 34 on December 23rd, 1823 in Moore County, NC.-
