Charles Rex Whitten 
Charles Rex was born on February 13th, 1930 in Thalia, Foard Co., Texas.1 Charles Rex's father was Robert Glover Whitten and his mother was Ruth Simmonds. His paternal grandparents were Robert Weir Johnson Whitten and Lucy Emma Davis; his maternal grandparents were Horace Greely Simmonds and Truzilla Thompson. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Hubert Lloyd, Stanley Rayworth, Robert Greely, Harold Jolene, Merledene, Geraldine and Elizabeth Jane. He was the second youngest of the eight children. He died at the age of 65 on March 20th, 1995 in Bossier City, Bossier Parish, LA.1 General Notes

Rex Whitten was always one of my favorite uncles. My only memory of him was while he was in the Air Force. I would only see him on those occasions when he was on leave and able to visit Mom and Pop. I always enjoyed the rare times that he would talk about his experiences in the Air Force. He was a flight engineer on a KC-94, which was a four engine prop airplane that was in use during the 1950's and early 1960's. When my son was born, I suggested that we name him Rex and to my surprise, my wife Judy agreed. Mike Whitten
