Martha A was born in 1834.1 Martha A's father was Pleasant Halbert and her mother was Nancy Crawford. Her paternal grandparents were James Halbert and Elizabeth Smith; her maternal grandparents were John Crawford and Margaret Buchanan. She had four brothers and three sisters, named James C, John T, Pleasant W, William C, Margaret C, Mary J and Emily Naomi. She was the oldest of the eight children. She had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Isaac Buchanan, Laura G and Tulia.General Notes
