Andrew was born in 1732 in Chester, Pennsylvania.1   Andrew's father was Samuel Buchanan and his mother was Martha McNutt.  His paternal grandparents were William Buchanan and ? ?. He had five brothers named Robert, William, Moses, Samuel and John.  He died at the age of 62 in 1794 in Washington, Virginia.1
