William Buchanan 
William was born on September 24th, 1787 in Washington, Virginia.1 William's father was Matthew Buchanan and his mother was Elizabeth Edmiston. His paternal grandparents were Andrew Buchanan and Johanna Hays; his maternal grandparents were William Edmiston and Agnes Holmes. He had two brothers and seven sisters, named Andrew, Samuel, Nancy, Joanna, Jannet, Isabella, Martha, Margaret and Mary. He was the third oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 58 on March 29th, 1846 in Washington, Virginia.1 General Notes
