Joanna Buchanan 
Joanna was born on October 30th, 1790 in Washington, Virginia.1 Joanna's father was Matthew Buchanan and her mother was Elizabeth Edmiston. Her paternal grandparents were Andrew Buchanan and Johanna Hays; her maternal grandparents were William Edmiston and Agnes Holmes. She had three brothers and six sisters, named Andrew, William, Samuel, Nancy, Jannet, Isabella, Martha, Margaret and Mary. She was the fourth oldest of the ten children. She died at the age of 70 on July 8th, 1861 in Washington, Virginia.1 General Notes
