Samuel Buchanan 
Samuel was born in 1793 in Washington, Virginia.1 Samuel's father was Matthew Buchanan and his mother was Elizabeth Edmiston. His paternal grandparents were Andrew Buchanan and Johanna Hays; his maternal grandparents were William Edmiston and Agnes Holmes. He had two brothers and seven sisters, named Andrew, William, Nancy, Joanna, Jannet, Isabella, Martha, Margaret and Mary. He was the fifth youngest of the ten children. He died at the age of 43 on November 25th, 1836 in Lincoln County, Tennessee.1 General Notes
