Verlinda Skeen 
Verlinda was born about 1770 in Rowan County, North Carolina. Verlinda's father was Matthew Skeen and her mother was Ruth Lamar. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Jacob, James, Matthew, Jane, Tabitha, Rutha and Sarah. She was the second oldest of the eight children. She died in 1825 in Wilson County, Tennessee.General Notes
Verlinda's husband, Samuel Hancock, is the son of Samuel Hancock and Mildred Dawson. Verlinda's brother, John Skeen, married Edy Hancock. Edy is the daughter of Samuel's brother, Martin Hancock.
