Matthew Skeen 
Matthew was born on January 3rd, 1775 in Rowan County, North Carolina. Matthew's father was Matthew Skeen and his mother was Ruth Lamar. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Jacob, James, Verlinda, Jane, Tabitha, Rutha and Sarah. He was the third youngest of the eight children. He died at the age of 76 on April 15th, 1851 in Denton, Davidson County, North Carolina.General Notes
Matthew Skeen, III married Priscilla Hancock, daughter of Martin Hancock and Elizabeth Hardee in 1801 in Montgomery County, North Carolina. Priscilla's sister, Edy Hancock, married Matthew's brother John Skeen.
