Joseph Forest Butler 
Joseph Forest was born on February 14th, 1842 in Trimble County, Kentucky. Joseph Forest's father was John Ferguson Butler and his mother was Frances Jane Farley. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Farley Butler and Nancy Walden; his maternal grandparents were Forest Farley and Frances Ellington. He had two brothers and nine sisters, named William , John Breckinridge, Mary Elizabeth, Mary Frances, Martha Reeves, Nancy Ann, Eunitia Ann, Elizabeth Wright, Sophia White, Ella Edwina and Edmonia Isabel. He was the fourth oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 72 on April 15th, 1914 in Trimble County, Kentucky. He was buried in Moffett Cemetery, Trimble County, Kentucky.General Notes

JOSEPH F. BUTLER was born February 14, 1842, in Trimble County, Ky., the fourth of eleven children born to John F. and Frances J. (Farley) Butler. John F. was born in Kentucky and died in 1860; his widow died in 1873.
Subject's grandparents were natives of Virginia, moved to Kentucky at an early date, and settled in Trimble County. His grandfather served in the war of 1812, and was killed at a battle in Vincennes, Ind. Joseph F. has followed farming and fruit growing, and owns a fine farm of 147 acres, well improved. In 1864 he enlisted in the Federal service under Col. H. M. Buckley, Fifty-fourth Kentucky Mounted Infantry, Company B, Capt. Robert Young. He served until the close of the war, and received an honorable discharge. In 1859 he was united in marriage with Miss Nancy J. Pendleton, daughter of Robert H. and Sallie (Peak) Pendleton. Mr. Pendleton was a native of Virginia, but moved to Kentucky in 1799, and settled in Trimble County. Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Butler: Benjamin F., Sallie, Mary, Charley, Joseph, Ella, John and Mark C. Mr. Butler is a zealous member of the Christian Church. Politically he is a Democrat.
