Martha Benton

Martha was born on August 23rd, 1822 in Colleton County, SC.¹   Martha's father was John Benton and her mother was Martha (Mattie) Hudson.  Her maternal grandfather was William Hudson?. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Joseph C., William Sylvester, Edward H., Child, Arthie and Vinnie. She had five half-brothers and four half-sisters, named James Oliver, Benjamin Gaines, Henry Richard, Mack Doran, Berry Garris, Remmy, Susan Ann, Jane and Mary.  She died at the age of 75 in September 1897.¹
