William Preston Mahanes 
William Preston was born about 1843. William Preston's father was Meredith Bluford Mahanes and his mother was Elizabeth W. Smith. His paternal grandparents were Lewis Augusta Mahanes and Drucilla Brockman. He had three brothers and eight sisters, named Edward Preston, Edwin, Meredith Marshall, Martha W., Mary, Victoria, Claudia N., Emily M., Pattie, Virginia Overton and Elizabeth Cowles. He was the fourth oldest of the twelve children. He died on December 8th, 1896 in Almshouse, Richmond, Virginia.General Notes

Mahane, William P.: enl. Sept. 18, 1862, in Goodhland Co., as Pvt., Co. D. Paroled in Richmond, Ap.28, 1865. Died Dec.8, 1896, at the Almshouse, Richmond.
