Edwin Mahanes 
Edwin was born about 1838. Edwin's father was Meredith Bluford Mahanes and his mother was Elizabeth W. Smith. His paternal grandparents were Lewis Augusta Mahanes and Drucilla Brockman. He had three brothers and eight sisters, named Edward Preston, William Preston, Meredith Marshall, Martha W., Mary, Victoria, Claudia N., Emily M., Pattie, Virginia Overton and Elizabeth Cowles. He was the second oldest of the twelve children.-
