Colonel was born on August 1st, 1882 in Cannon County, TN.1   Colonel's father was Alexander Merion DUKE and his mother was Lucy Ann ALMON.  His maternal grandparents were James ALMON and Frances RAWLINGS. He had nine brothers and two sisters, named Francis, James William, Calvin V., Elijah, General Jackson, Jessie, Thomas, Captain Wylie, Baby, Bettie Emmaline and HILLrie.  He was the sixth oldest of the twelve children.  He died at the age of 72 on January 21st, 1955 in Cannon County, TN.  His burial was in Liberty Cemetery, Cannon County, TN.2 1
