Calvin V. DUKE

Calvin V. was born on January 22nd, 1878 in Cannon County, TN.¹ Calvin V.'s father was Alexander Merion DUKE and his mother was Lucy Ann ALMON. His maternal grandparents were James ALMON and Frances RAWLINGS. He had nine brothers and two sisters, named Francis, James William, Elijah, Colonel, General Jackson, Jessie, Thomas, Captain Wylie, Baby, Bettie Emmaline and HILLrie. He was the fourth oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 23 on December 24th, 1901 in Cannon County, TN. His burial was in Liberty Cemetery, Cannon County, TN.²¹

- The following was received from Linda DUKE Brewster via e-mail dated June 6, 2000.
  
  Calvin V. DUKE was the 3rd child, and second son of Alexander Merion
  DUKE and Lucy Anne ALMON (Allman) DUKE. He first married Mollie
  (Millie?) Swanger who was born 8 Feb l882, died 22 Jun l899. They were
  married l4 Sep l895 per Marriage Book , page , Cannon Co, TN. After
  her death, he married her sister, Elizabeth Anne Swanger about l900 in
  Cannon County. He died within a SHORT time of his remarriage, passing
  on the 24th of December, l90l. Elizabeth is listed as Anna on the l900
  census and she and Calvin were living with Alexander and Lucy, Calvin's
  parents.
