Alexander Merion DUKE

Alexander Merion was born on September 9th, 1851 in Cannon County,TN.¹ He died at the age of 61 on December 8th, 1912 in Cannon County, TN. His burial was in Old Liberty, aka DUKE Cemetery Cannon/Coffee County.²¹

General Notes
- Alexander DUKE was a farmer living in Cannon County, TN in June, 1900.
  
  The 1900 Cannon County Census shows Anna Alexander, daughter-in-law, age 15, and daughter-in-law, Ida Alexander, age 16 also living in the household at the time the census was taken.
  
  The 1900 Cannon County Census also shows Lucy's mother, Fannie ALLMON, living with the DUKE family at the time of the census, June 5, 1900.

  The following was received from Linda DUKE Brewster via e-mail dated June 6, 2000.
  
  Alexander Merion DUKE was the 6th child of William P. DUKE and Cynthia
  Morgan DUKE. He spent his youth working on his father's farm like many
  other young men his age. On l8 Mar l869, he married Lucy Ann ALMON
  (Allman) in Cannon Co, TN, and they set up housekeeping on a farm close
  to his parents. They were the parents of eleven sons and one daughter.
  Ten children lived to adulthood, and two infant sons died - (Hillrie 30
  Dec l895-l8 Nov l896) and an unnamed baby boy (6 Aug l898-l Dec l899).
