Captain Wylie DUKE

Captain Wylie was born in June 1894 in Cannon County, TN.¹ Captain Wylie's father was Alexander Merion DUKE and his mother was Lucy Ann ALMON. His maternal grandparents were James ALMON and Frances RAWLINGS. He had nine brothers and two sisters, named Francis, James William, Calvin V., Elijah, Colonel, General Jackson, Jessie, Thomas, Baby, Bettie Emmaline and HILLrie. He was the tenth oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 64 on October 4th, 1958 in Dalton, Whitfield County, GA.²

- The following was received from Linda DUKE Brewster via e-mail dated June 6, 2000.
  
  Captain Wylie DUKE was the tenth child of Alexander Merion DUKE and Lucy
  Anne ALMON DUKE. He married Bessie Jemima Webb (l3 Sep l896-7 Jan l979)
  on l3 Feb l9ll (Cannon Co, TN?). They had one son, Everett Conrad DUKE
  who was born l2 Nov l9l4. Captain and Bessie are buried together in
  Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Dalton, GA.
