Bettie Emmaline DUKE

Bettie Emmaline was born on March 24th, 1875 in Cannon County, TN.¹ Bettie Emmaline's father was Alexander Merion DUKE and her mother was Lucy Ann ALMON. Her maternal grandparents were James ALMON and Frances RAWLINGS. She had ten brothers and a sister, named Francis, James William, Calvin V., Elijah, Colonel, General Jackson, Jessie, Thomas, Captain Wylie, Baby and HILLrie. She was the third oldest of the twelve children. She died at the age of 100 on March 16th, 1976 in Jacksboro, TN.

- The following was received from Linda DUKE Brewster via e-mail dated June 6, 2000.
  
  Bettie was the only daughter of Alexander Merion and Lucy Anne ALMON
  (Allman) DUKE. She married first: I. W. RAINS, 7 May l89l in Cannon Co,
  TN; married second: Samuel Toney Jakes (date unknown). She was living
  in California in l963 when her brother, General, died. Her place of
  death is unknown, but she is buried next to Toney in Jacksboro Cemetery,
  Warren Co, TN. She was l00 years, ll months and 20 days old when she
  died. She had one daughter, Bennie T. Jakes according to Robert M.
  DUKE, Sr.
