James Cowan

James was born in 1772. James' father was Mathias Cowan and his mother was Rachel Ellen Gray. His paternal grandparents were Hugh Cowan and Ann Mathias. He had two brothers and six sisters, named Joseph, George, Martha, Mary, Anne, Elizabeth, Rachel and Sarah. He was the oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 44 in 1816.
