William James was born on May 10th, 1883 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.1   William James' father was John Mathieson and his mother was Sarah Bliss.  His paternal grandfather is John Matheson and his paternal grandmother was Mary McKinney; his maternal grandparents are Thomas Bliss and Jessie Sim. He had four brothers and three sisters, named John, Thomas Archibald, Frank, George McGregor, Jessie, Mary and Helen.  He was the sixth oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 66 on July 20th, 1949 in Queensland, Australia.
