Mary was born on July 6th, 1874 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.1   Mary's father was John Mathieson and her mother was Sarah Bliss.  Her paternal grandfather is John Matheson and her paternal grandmother was Mary McKinney; her maternal grandparents are Thomas Bliss and Jessie Sim. She had five brothers and two sisters, named John, Thomas Archibald, Frank, William James, George McGregor, Jessie and Helen.  She was the second oldest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 66 on June 17th, 1941 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
