Sarah, known as Sarah, was born in 1824 in Muscogee Co, Georgia.  Sarah's father was Wiley CANNON and her mother was Charlotte SHEPPARD.  Her paternal grandparents were Nathaniel CANNON and Frances SUMNER. She had nine brothers and two sisters, named James, Lemuel, Wherry Or Whorry, Lewis, John, Elbert, David, Jessie, Robert, Melissa and Zilpha.  She was the third oldest of the twelve children.
