Sarah Jane Thornton

Sarah Jane was born in March 1865 in Keighley, Yorkshire, England.¹ Sarah Jane's father was John Thornton and her mother was Mary Mitchell. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Thornton and Harriet Asquith; her maternal grandparents were John Mitchell and Sarah (Mitchell). She had four brothers and four sisters, named Asquith, Fred Mitchell, Andrew, Thomas, Harriet A, Grace, Emma and Maria. She was the fifth oldest of the nine children.
