Maria Thornton

Maria was born in June 1869 in Keighley, Yorkshire, England.¹ Maria's father was John Thornton and her mother was Mary Mitchell. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Thornton and Harriet Asquith; her maternal grandparents were John Mitchell and Sarah (Mitchell). She had four brothers and four sisters, named Asquith, Fred Mitchell, Andrew, Thomas, Harriet A, Grace, Sarah Jane and Emma. She was the seventh oldest of the nine children.
