Fred Mitchell Thornton

Fred Mitchell was born in 1865 in Keighley, Yorkshire, England.¹ Fred Mitchell's father was John Thornton and his mother was Mary Mitchell. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Thornton and Harriet Asquith; his maternal grandparents were John Mitchell and Sarah (Mitchell). He had three brothers and five sisters, named Asquith, Andrew, Thomas, Harriet A, Grace, Sarah Jane, Emma and Maria. He was the fourth oldest of the nine children.
