George was born on November 27th, 1625 in Eckington, Derbyshire, England.  George's father was Thomas STANIFORTH and his mother was Anne (UNKNOWN).  His paternal grandparents were Thomas STANIFORTH and Margaret SCOTTE.  He had eight sisters named Anne, Elizabeth, Mary, Troth, Anne, Jane, Margaret and Jane.  He was the fourth oldest of the nine children.
