Isabel was born about 1260.  Isabel's father was Gilbert "the Red Earl" de Clare Earl of Gloucester & Hertford and her mother was Alice Le Brun De Lusignan.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard De Clare Earl of Gloucester and Maud Lacy Countess of Gloucester; her maternal grandparents were Hugh X Count De Lusignan and Isabella Taillefer Of Angouleme. She had two half-brothers and six half-sisters, named Gilbert, William de, Eleanor, Margaret, Elizabeth, Eleanor, Isabel and Eleanor.
