Joan was born about 1406 in Westminster, Middlesex, England.  Joan's father was John de Beaufort and her mother was Margaret de Holland.  Her paternal grandparents were John Plantagenet of Gaunt and Catherine Swynford Roet; her maternal grandparents were Thomas II de Holland and Alice FitzAlan of Arundel. She had two brothers named Edmund and John.  She was the youngest of the three children.  She died on July 15th, 1445 in Dunbar Castle, East Lothian, Scotland.
