Eleanor was born about 1256 in Seagrave, Leicestershire, England.  Eleanor's father was Nicholas de Segrave and her mother was Matilda (Maud) de Lucy.  Her paternal grandparents were Gilbert II de Segrave and Annabilia de Chaucombe; her maternal grandparents were Thomas III de Multon and Isabel de Bolteby. She had seven brothers and a sister, named John, Nicholas II, Henry, Stephen, Geoffrey, Gilbert, Peter and Annabel.  She was the oldest of the nine children.  She died in 1314 in Brackley, Northamptonshire, England.
