Maud de was born about 1176 in Lincolnshireoln, Lincolnshire, England.  Maud de's father was Richard de Clare , Earl Hertford & Gloucester and her mother was Amice of Gloucester.  Her paternal grandparents were Roger de Clare , Earl of Hertford and Maud deSt. Hilary; her maternal grandparents were William FitzRobert 2nd Earl of Gloucester and Hawise de Beaumont. She had a brother named Gilbert de.  She was the older of the two children.  She died in 1213.
