Robert de was born about 1090 in Caen, Normandy, France.1   Robert de's father was King Henry I England and his mother was Princess Nesta Verch Rhys.  His paternal grandparents were King William The Conqueror and Matilda Maud of Flanders; his maternal grandparents were Rhys Ap Tewdwr Mawr and Gwladys Verch Rhiwallon. He had two brothers and a sister, named Henry, Robert and Annora. He had five half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Robert, Reginald Dunstanville, Henry, Robert, Maurice FitzWalter, Matilda Maud, Matilda Aethelic, Constance Matilda Plantagenet, Mathilda and Elizabeth.  He died on October 31st, 1147 in Bristol, Gloucestershire, England.2
