Dinah was born in 1802 in South Ferriby, Lincoln, England and her christening took place there on October 17th, 1802.  Dinah's father was Joseph Rack and her mother was Elizabeth Thompson.  Her paternal grandparents were William Rack and Eleanor Lamin. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, William, Mary, Ellen and Bessey.  She was the second youngest of the six children.
