Martin was born on March 5th, 1837.  Martin's father was Amos Glover and his mother was Elizabeth Gilmore. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Harrison, Alpheus, John, Elias, Julia, Matilda, Sarah and Eliza.  He was the fifth oldest of the nine children. He had five half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Richard, William, Joseph, Amos, Charles, Mary Ann, Elizabeth , Nancy  and Maria.  He died at the age of 85 on October 23rd, 1922.
