Maria was born on July 21st, 1821.  Maria's father was Amos Glover and her mother was Drusilla Spurgin. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Richard, William, Joseph, Amos, Charles, Mary Ann, Elizabeth  and Nancy .  She was the youngest of the nine children. She had five half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Harrison, Alpheus, John, Martin, Elias, Julia, Matilda, Sarah and Eliza.
