Dirck Maertenszn was born on February 24th, 1715 in Zoetermeer and his baptism took place on February 28th, 1715 in Benthuizen.1  Dirck Maertenszn's father was Maarten Jacobszn Rodenburg and his mother was Pleuntje Jansdr Lelijveld.  His paternal grandparents were Jacob Arentszn Rodenburg and Trijntge Maartensdr Hogerscheijt; his maternal grandparents were Jan Dirkszn Lelijveld and Maartje Leendertsdr Vrijenoock. He had three brothers and a sister, named Jacob Maertenszn, Willem, Maerten and Trijntje.  He was the third oldest of the five children. He had two half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Arij, Maarten, Pleuntje, Trijntje and Ariaantje.  He died at the age of 75 in 1790.1
