Arij was born in 1742 in Zoetermeer and his baptism took place there on December 23rd, 1742.1  Arij's father was Maarten Jacobszn Rodenburg and his mother is Neeltje Jacobsdr Brugman.  His paternal grandparents were Jacob Arentszn Rodenburg and Trijntge Maartensdr Hogerscheijt; his maternal grandfather is Jacob Brugman and his maternal grandmother was N.N. N.N.. He had a brother and three sisters, named Maarten, Pleuntje, Trijntje and Ariaantje.  He was the oldest of the five children. He had four half-brothers and a half-sister, named Jacob Maertenszn, Willem, Dirck Maertenszn, Maerten and Trijntje.  He died at the age of 8 on September 3rd, 1750 in Zegwaart (Zoetermeer).1
