Jakobus was born in July 1714 in Aalburg and his baptism took place there on July 22nd, 1714.1  Jakobus' father was Caspar Jacobszn Mans and his mother was Maria Hendriks Verdoorn.  His paternal grandparents were Jacobus Mans and Michieltje Dirckx; his maternal grandparents were Hendrik Janszn Verdoorn and Magdalena Ariens van der Flier. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named Hendrik, Arien, Hermannus Wilhelmus, Jan, Willem, Philip, David, Giliana Caspers, Johanna and Magdalena.  He was the third oldest of the eleven children.
