Bessie was born on February 11th, 1884 in Mile End. Bessie's father was Michael Heiser and her mother was Charlotte Mendes.  Her paternal grandparents were Abraham  Heiser and Sarah Levy; her maternal grandparents were Mordecai (Alexander) Elisha Mendes and Elizabeth Abrahams. She had seven brothers and four sisters, named Samuel, Jack John, Alexander, Sidney, Alfred, David, Reuben, Elizabeth, Edyth, Sarah and Hetty.  She was the fourth oldest of the twelve children.  She died about 1960.

Bessie and Hymie were married in a civil ceremony on February 27th, 1901 in Hounsditch.  They were also married in a religious ceremony on January 12th, 1902 at 313 Mile End Road.  They had three sons and three daughters, named Mickey, Bertie, Dennis, Lottie, Minnie and Edie.
