Mordecai (Alexander) Elisha Mendes

Mordecai, known as Alexander, was born in 1826 in London. Alexander's father was Jacob (John) Mendes and his mother was Charlotte Habilho. His paternal grandparents were David Mendes and Rebecca; his maternal grandparents were Joseph Habilho and Rebecca. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Joseph, David, Jacob, Gershon, Abraham, Judah, Sarah, Rachel and Miriam. He was the sixth oldest of the ten children. He died about 1890.

- Chris Mendes (July 2004) said he used name Elisha and then Alexander

Mordecai Mendes marriage

Alexander and Elizabeth were married in a religious ceremony on May 4th, 1847 in London.¹ They had two sons and three daughters, named George, Alexander, Sagarissa, Charlotte and Sarah.
