June was born in 1781 in Tenterden, Kent, England and her baptism took place on April 1st, 1781.  June's father was Thomas Reader and her mother was Sarah Merralls. She had two brothers and six sisters, named Thomas, Richard, Judith, Mary, Catherine, Hannah, Philly and Harriett.  She was the fourth oldest of the nine children.
