Hannah was born in 1787 in Tenterden, Kent, England and her baptism took place on March 11th, 1787.  Hannah's father was Thomas Reader and her mother was Sarah Merralls. She had two brothers and six sisters, named Thomas, Richard, Judith, Mary, June, Catherine, Philly and Harriett.  She was the seventh oldest of the nine children.
