Elizabeth was born on July 2nd, 1815 in Exeter, England.  Elizabeth's father was John Parkin and her mother was Elizabeth Howard. She had seven brothers and two sisters, named William, John, Robert, George, Cradock, Isaac, Frederick, Jane and Charlotte.  She was the third oldest of the ten children. She had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Alfred, Thomas, Maria Magdalena and Martha Suzanna.  She died at the age of 79 on December 28th, 1894 in Port Elizabeth.
