Mary  was born on October 17th, 1830 in St Pancras, Middlesex and her christening took place on November 7th, 1830 in Saint Andrew, Holborn, Middlesex.1 2  Mary 's father was Charles Norrington and her mother was Mary Ann Benton.  Her maternal grandparents were Edward Benton and Ann Griffiths. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Charles, Henry, William, Emma and Jane.  She was the oldest of the six children.
