William Gunner Hayes

William was born on September 2nd, 1876 in Sewardstone, Essex.¹

William's father was James Thomas Hayes and his mother was Elizabeth Penn. His paternal grandparents were William Chetwyn Hayes and Maria Briggs; his maternal grandparents were Henry John Penn and Charlotte Bott. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Henry, Frederick, James, Walter, Albert, Elizabeth and Maria. He was the second youngest of the eight children. He died at the age of 80 in 1956.²
